Absolutely every business should have a blog. If it was down to me (and some of you will be glad it’s not ) I would make a business related blog mandatory for every business.

When you are starting out, the best you can get is a self hosted blog. Not everyone is technically minded and not everyone is able to afford a web designer or blog coach to do it for them, so there are some other options available.

Use a business site like BT Tradespace to promote your business and blog there. I have found this particularly effective and have blogged there since April 2007.

Some forums like UKBF and UK Business Labs have a blogs section, so if you are an active forum person take a look and see what they have to offer you as part of your membership.

Set up a free one on WordPress or Blogger, if you do this you have the option of converting it to a self hosted blog later on (when you are able to).
