If you are a regular blogger, writer or forum poster you might like to add your content to twitter. In fact you can add any content that has an RSS feed.
Previously I posted about how to add your BT Tradespace to Twitter via Hootsuite and it was mentioned that Twitterfeed does the same too. So I am posting how to use Twitterfeed too. Hope you find it useful.
You will need a twitter account, an OpenID account, your RSS feed urls and about 20 minutes to add twitterfeed to your twitter account. If you do not have these already please visit their websites and set them up (twitter.com and http://openid.net/).
You will need the information for both of these accounts to set up your TwitterFeed account. It may help to have them open in tabs as well as Twtterfeed open.
- Go to the TwitterFeed website: http://twitterfeed.com/.
- Scroll down the page until you see Step 2 which reads has a clickable link that reads “login to twitterfeed”. Click on that link.
- Enter your OpenID login information. Click “login”. This will take you to a page with a link that reads “go to my twitterfeeds (or create a new one). Click on that link.
- Click on the link that says “create a new link”. You will see a box that reads “create a new (blank) feed”. In the (blank) is a drop-down box. Make sure that you have selected “twitter” in this box.
- Enter the requested information in the form. This includes entering your TwitterID and password and the RSS feed for your blog. You can also choose how often to update, how many posts to show at each update, to show a title and description or just one or the other. You will need to authenticate each section so that it shows a green tick.
- It’s not essential but you can enter some text into the box that reads “prefix each tweet with”. This will let your Twitter buddies know what they’re reading. For example, you may enter “New blog post” or ‘Post From Forum” or something to that effect then click create.
- Repeat for all the RSS feed urls that you wish to add.
Wait 12-24 hours and then check your Twitter profile to make sure that your feed is automatically updating. If it’s not, return to TwitterFeed and double check the above list. If it’s not showing up in the feeds section of your account, get in touch with them via their support section.
