GuestBlog: Twitter lists 101

Category: Marketing tipsSarah Arrow @ 8:10 pm

Welcoming my first guest blogger and dear friend, Steven Healey, showing us how to get to grips with twitter lists!

What is a Twitter List

A list is a grouping of twitter users , you can decide the name of the group and who is in it.

You can make it public , in which case every other twitter user on the planet can see it , or you can keep it private.

You can have up to 20 lists , you can have 500 people on each list.

From Twitter HQ

We are expanding availability of Lists to 5 percent of users and will work our way up to a full roll-out in the coming weeks.

Who can benefit from using lists … Everyone who users twitter , it makes it easy to follow groups of people tweeting in real time.

If you follow a lot of people .. You can create upto 20 lists to organize the people you are following ..

If you do not follow a lot of people … you can follow other peoples lists as well a create one of your own.

To follow a list goto the users profile ..

On the right hand side of their twitter.com web page you will see a list of lists they have created. Select one

And press follow this list ..

The list will then appear on the right hand side of your twitter.com homepage.

There are two lists you can follow straight away

Mine :)

Great People

and EcademyTwo

BT TradeSpace SMEs

To create your own list .. visit the profile you wish to add to your list

You can see the dropdown to the right of the green following tick , so select new list (at the bottom) Give the list a name .

You have created your first list.

You can add people to the list smply by visiting their profiles .. use search to find people

And from your own Twitter page you can see the lists you are featured in

Happy Listing .. follow the #listguru tag for tips

From what i have seen so far, twitter lists certainly add a dimension to Twitter. Starting to add a couple of lists myself, which is great in your wanting specific reading.

The other great thing, but am yet to do if honest is follow others lists which they have spent the time setting up.
