Linking Blogs and blog traffic building – Seeded Buzz

Like me, most of the readers of this blog are looking to get extra traffic to their blogs, so I often try out sites which promise the earth but fail to deliver.

Before I went to Vancouver, I found the SeededBuzz site and had a little poke and prod (as you do) to see what it is all about.

The concept is simple, you seed a blog, write a few lines about the blog post and add it to the bank of blog posts. You then take a look in the various sections and see if anything takes your fancy, to mention in your blog – creating a buzz about it. The blog gains more links and traffic and so does yours when it’s mentioned.

The site is young, and it’s a good time to get in at the beginning but you will have to bear with it whilst it grows.

I have planted one seed and I have had traffic from that seed, but no links as yet.

I have created one buzz so far, and that also generated traffic, which is part of the reason why I think this is a site to keep an eye on.

The plans are to charge for accounts in future, and if all goes according to plan I can see this being something of value and worth paying for :-) It will also enable people to meet other bloggers in their area of expertise and help them with blog posts (nothing worse than blog writers block, or churning out the same old rubbish as you are struggling with words).

The good news is they have a 1000 accounts to give away for free whilst they are building their community, please add my name (sarah arrow)  in the promotional code area. They are offering an incentive per sign up, anyone who knows me knows that I never claim these (the one time I did, I lost the cheque for a tenner :-) it was an omen), but in mentioning my name you get the free account, which should be enough to try the site out and drive some traffic to your blog.

In the mean time, I like to give you a balanced view – have a look at what Melow Missteps post ‘Blogs are money making machines’ has to say about it -  a quick extract -

I was reading through all the blog posts on SeededBuzz to get an idea of which blog types are getting buzzed.  I’ve only planted 2 Seeds, buzzed once, but I’ve never been buzzed.  Scrolling through the Seeds I realize I’m not alone in the UNBUZZED category, lol.  Am I missing something?

So I’m wondering, “Why am I even doing this?”  The purpose of SeededBuzz is to get traffic to your blog site, but why?  I’m not really sure why getting traffic to my blog is important.  I guess it is to help earn money – but at this point – I can’t figure out how!  I have an idea or two:  affiliate links, promoting your own products, someone else’s products, or something on that order, but certainly more than just readership, right?

Let me know how you get on :-)

Sarah

PS Blogs are not money making machines… and shouldn’t be treated as such, they can add a strand of income though. As with a lot of things that are seen as ‘passive’, they rarely are and require a lot of work :-)

  2. it is really hard to build massive traffic on a website. you need to promote your website by blog commenting or PPC advertising`;*
