Seo copywriting and SEO for your blog can seem very daunting when starting out writing blogs. When I started 3 years ago, I never had a clue about keywords or SEO and I am not much more clued up to it today to be perfectly honest. I keep one thing in mind, if you want to be found for something, you must mention what you wish to be found for.
As I mentioned in a previous post about writing for the human reader and not the search engine spider, what you write has to be understood as well as be found and getting the balance can be hard.
If you saw my tweet 10 days ago, you’ll have noticed that I found a tool to make this easier. This tool is called Scribe* (aff link). Scribe can be downloaded as a plugin, and then uploaded to your own self hosted WordPress site. If you click the link you can sign up for a free trial and get 5 goes for free.
This is a very powerful tool, and it looks at your copy and checks that each post has the basic things in place. Then you can click ‘Analyze’ and it will take a few minutes and then give you a report on how well that post is optimised. Obviously you are aiming for 100% and Scribe* gives you tips and advice on how to get that all important 100%.
Obviously we are writing for humans, and on one post it told me off - I had mentioned couriers 7.5% which is clearly overdoing it on a 300 word blog
.
I really rather love it, and after playing around with my free trial, I got my husband to use it on a blog that he was writing. As a Bloke on the Blog, Kev has to produce one post a week. Now instead of standing over his shoulder muttering… Scribe does it for me
well, it doesn’t mutter… but you know what I mean…
Over at the Scribe site they are giving away a report about SEO and copywriting, it’s by Brian Clarke of Copyblogger fame and is a very good read. Now, I was supposed to do something with that report or link to it or something, but I accidentally deleted the email and by the time I had realised it was gone, it was took late to get it back
One day, one day… I’ll get a grip on this affiliate marketing thing!
In the mean time, I shall just have better optimised blogs
Sarah
