Blog posts are an investment. You spend a lot of time writing them. You also spend a lot of time planning and researching them. So it makes good business sense to make the most of your investment. When you re-purpose and reuse your blog posts, you maximize your return, it’s worker smarter not harder. And I’m all for working smarter.
Here are five quick tips and ideas to re-purpose and reuse your blog posts.
Pile ‘em high – Gather blog posts that fit together nicely and create a report.
You’ll want to add an introduction, a conclusion, borders and images. You may also need to add some transitions and polish the content to fit a cohesive topic. Consider if you have the right audience to monetise the content. Only add affiliate links if it’s appropriate to your audience. You can also include the occasional product or service promotion for your own business or links back to your blog. Remember to be heavy on the value and light on the promotion…
Break ‘em down
If you have existing reports, then they will be perfect to create articles and blog posts from. You have many options with a report. You can simply pull apart segments of the report to create blog posts. Add an introduction and conclusion paragraph and you’re ready to publish. Or you can take it further and create lists and other information-packed posts. For example, if you have a “how to” report with ten steps and ten pages of content, you could create an article that’s a much abbreviated version of the report. List the ten steps with a one or two sentence explanation. You could also write a “three things you need to do to…” post. With ten steps you could write three of those articles
Republish older blog posts with updates
Often evergreen / pillar content isn’t as evergreen as you hope. The world moves quickly and most industries grow and change regularly. Take a look at your “evergreen” articles and blog posts. How can you refresh them with updated content? Is it a question of new links or updated resources? Remember to make a note on the post to say you have edited it as any comments may seem out of context with the new information.
Partition e-books
This method is similar to breaking down reports to create articles and blog posts. You can break e-books down into reports, articles or blog posts. You can get quite a lot of content from an e-book. Take a look at the e-books you’ve written and brainstorm content ideas. These posts can also promote the ebook – just add a line underneath and say “this is an edited extract from xxx ebook, you can grab a copy here” and then add a link to the sales or download page.
Group your give-away reports
If you’re looking to create a new information product, consider grouping them to create an e-book. You’ll want to organize the reports in a logical manner. You’ll need to add an introduction as well as a conclusion. Transitions will be necessary and you can add some nice graphics – good graphics create a nicer feel, don’t skimp on the graphics. Add checklists, worksheets and lists to add value to your e-books and reports for extra value. From personal experience, ebooks with checklists are far more useful than those with out – it’s added extra value for your reader. I often give away the checklist as a lead in for the sale of the ebook. It gives your audience a chance to see how deep you go with the information your sharing. Re-purposing your blog posts is a smart business blogging strategy. With each new post you create, consider how you might be able to use it in the future. Content is essential for online business success. Work your content harder with this smart ways. Sarah PS if you found this post useful please share it on Facebook.

Something I’d like to stress a little bit more that how often the research into the comment ends up being so useful and interesting anyway that its never really to much of a hardship
